In order to enable simple and hygienic installation, it is proposed that the support edge (8) has a step (15) or a groove on the inside of the base, into which an elastic seal (16) is inserted. The elastic seal (16) seals the support edge (8) from the base (9) so that additional elastic grouting can be dispensed with.

    The present invention relates to a countertop washbasin for mounting on a flat surface, with an upwardly open basin area and a base area formed on the underside which has an at least partially circumferential support edge with which the countertop washbasin is placed on the base.
    A countertop washbasin, often also referred to as a countertop washbasin, is placed on a base such as a base cabinet or a worktop. The pelvic area is completely above the base. The drain is led through a recess in the base to a siphon located below the base.
    The base edge of the countertop washbasin resting on the base is typically provided with a silicone joint that is intended to protect against the ingress of dirt and moisture. However, manual installation of silicone jointing by the installer is time-consuming and the result is often not very attractive. In addition, a silicone joint can leak due to aging or discolor due to the influence of UV.
    [0004] The invention has therefore set itself the task of specifying a countertop washbasin that is easy and hygienic to install.
    The object is achieved by a countertop washbasin with the features of claim 1, advantageous embodiments can be found in the dependent claims.
    In a countertop washbasin of the type mentioned, the invention provides that the support edge toward the inside of the base has a step or a groove into which an elastic seal is inserted. The elastic seal thus seals the support edge against the base, that is, a base cabinet or a worktop, so that additional elastic grouting can be dispensed with. The seal is not visible from the outside and is not exposed to UV influences that would lead to aging of the elastic sealing material. In addition, due to the recessed arrangement of the seal, no gap is visible between the support edge and the base.
    The seal is preferably made of an elastomer, for example based on silicone, rubber or polyurethane. The seal can be designed as a profile seal made of solid material or with a hollow chamber profile. Furthermore, a foam sealing tape based on polyurethane can also be used as a seal, which slowly expands after compression and thus forms a tight joint connection. In all of the cases mentioned, the seal can be glued to the support edge, in particular in the area of the step or groove.
    [0008] The countertop washbasin preferably has a drain opening out within the base area. This can be connected within the base through a recess in the base via a corresponding drain pipe to a siphon located below the base. The drain pipes can thus be installed concealed.
    [0009] The drain can also be provided with a closure or closable drain valve. This can be operated via an eccentric pull rod attached to a wash basin fitting, which is connected to a valve disk of the drain valve in order to raise or lower it. The eccentric pull rod also runs invisibly inside the base.
    In a preferred embodiment, the countertop washbasin has a basin area with a floor and a circumferential wall. Here, it can be provided in particular that the wall on the outside merges smoothly into the support edge, which forms the base area. On the inside, the pelvic area can form an upwardly concave container.
    In a preferred embodiment, the countertop washbasin is made of cast mineral or ceramic material, in particular sanitary ware or sanitary porcelain. The mentioned materials are well suited for the sanitary area. In addition, the step or groove can be integrally formed during manufacture of the washstand. In addition, a washstand made of stainless steel is also included within the scope of the invention. The step or groove can be embossed here. Alternatively, the seal can also be made from a polyurethane-based foam that is applied in the area of the step or groove.

    In Figures 1 and 2, a countertop washbasin 1 can be seen. This comprises a concave upwardly curved bowl 2 with a circumferential side wall 3 which merges into a base 4. At the lowest point of the base 4 there is a drain 5 with a drain valve 6.
    The side wall 3 goes down on the outside of the vanity 1 into a base 7 and ends as a support edge 8 with which the vanity 1 on a base 9 (see Fig. 3) such as a cabinet or a worktop is set up.
    On the back of the washbasin 1, a console 10 is integrally formed, which has a tap hole on which a fitting 12 is installed. On the underside of the washbasin 1 there is a mounting hole 14 with a threaded insert on both sides in the area of the base 7, which is used to fasten the washbasin 1 on the base 9.
    The support edge 8 is formed circumferentially in the embodiment. Alternatively, however, it would also be possible to design the washstand on the back for connection to a building-side wall, so that the support edge would only have to run as far as the wall connection and end there or merge into a connection edge that kinks up at a right angle for connection to the wall .
    The support edge 8 has towards the inside of the base a step 15, into which an elastic seal 16 is inserted and glued there. In Figures 3 and 4, the step 15 and the seal 16 can be seen enlarged. Here, in FIG. 3, the support edge 8 is set up on a base 9. The seal 16 lying in the recessed step 15 is dimensioned such that it rests against the base 9 and prevents the ingress of dirt and moisture there. This means that there is no need for the installer to apply a silicone joint. As an alternative to a step 15, a groove arranged on the underside of the support edge 8, into which the seal 16 is inserted, is also conceivable.
